ROXAS City – Typhoon Yolanda has claimed the lives of 60 persons in Capiz, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).
The PDRRMC also reported as of Wednesday that 133 individuals were injured while and 1 remains missing.
Out of the 16 municipalities of Capiz, only the towns of Dumalag and Panitan did not report any casualty at the height of the typhoon last November 8.
The town of Panay had the most casualty with 10, Pontevedra – 1, President Roxas – 4, Pilar – 12, and Maayon – 3, all in the first district. The municipalities of Ivisan – 2, Sigma – 4, Mambusao – 2, Dumarao – 3, Sapian – 2, Jamindan – 4, Tapaz 4, Cuartero 1, and Dao 2.
Roxas City has 6 casualties.
The provincial government also estimated Yolanda’s damages at P5.401 billion.
The breakdown includes P3.697 billion in infrastructure, agriculture - P1.028 billion and fisheries - P675 million
Affected families totaled 145,394 which are comprised of 695,558 persons.
PDRRMC data also revealed that the totally damaged houses reached 94,430 while 36,118 were partial damaged. (CPPB/Edward Basilonia)
