Search for outstanding farmers launch in Capiz

ROXAS City – The TOFARM 2013 search for outstanding farmers of the Philippines in Panay Island was recently launched in the province of Capiz.

The Outstanding Farmers of the Philippines (TOFARM) Award is a joint effort of Junior Chamber International, Philippines (JCIP) and Universal Harvester Incorporated (UHI), a nationwide search for outstanding farmers to recognize them for their contribution in our growing economy.

Provincial Agriculturist Sylvia Dela Cruz stressed the full support of the Provincial Government of Capiz to the project.

This initiative of JCI and Universal Harvester possess a great challenge to our farmers and fisherfolks,” Dela Cruz said.

TOFARM will give out 12 awards this year, seven in the individual category and five in the group category. These include Farmer, Fisherfolk, Livestock, Agri-Entrepreneur, Young Farmer, Agricultural Innovator, Urban/City Farmer and Woman Farmer in the individual category; and Agriculture Cooperative, Family Farmer, Local Government Unit, Agriculture Initiatives and People’s Choice in the group category.

TOFARM nomination period will run from March until September and must be confirmed by the local agriculturist or nearest JCI president, following the prescribed nomination form that is downloadable at their website www.tofarm.org. (Capiz Provincial Press Bureau/Rubi Ann B. Repil)
