ROXAS City – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Capiz unanimously confirmed the appointment of lawyer Jose Oñas-Villanueva as provincial administrator.

Villanueva, who also sits as the acting chief legal officer of Capiz since 2007, vowed to carry out the policies of reelected Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. who is serving his last term.

He said the governor will call for a consultative meeting with the stakeholders to push his five-point agenda.

He also noted that Tanco intends to complete within his term the completion of the following: the P20-billion Integrated Panay Basin Project, the P300-million five-storey provincial hospital building in Brgy. Lanot here, and the concreting of provincial roads in Capiz.

Meanwhile, the provincial administrator and his family transformed last 2005 a five-hectare hilly and forested property in Sitio Bankal, Brgy. Maninang, Sapian town into the now pilgrimage site known as Meditation Hills – the site of the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Thousands of Marian devotees frequent the site.

It was conceived out of love and devotion to the Virgin Mary, conceptualized to be a place of worship and prayers, where the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, would stand at the top of the hill and chapel to be called “The Healing Chapel” as its foot, he said.

This ‘inspired dream’ is now a reality,” Villanueva said adding that in retrospect, Meditation Hills was blessed and opened for public visitation on February 11, 2006, and shortly thereafter the ground breaking for the construction of the chapel followed.

He said that through sheer determination and help from God-loving relatives and friends, the chapel after four long years of an inspired work of art, is finally completed.

A place of worship and a perfect sanctuary for hopeful souls and firm believers that up there exists an infinite power to heal mankind’s physical and spiritual ailment – The greatest healer of all- the Lord our God,” he said. (The Daily Guardian/Felipe V. Celino)
