ROXAS City — The Department of Tourism 6 (DOT-6) and the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) are holding an advanced tour guiding training at the Pag-ulikid Training Center-ESLA in Brgy. Lanot here.

The comprehensive training, which runs from November 5 to December 1, was designed to:
  • professionalize the provision of guiding services to tourists and guests
  • educate the participants on the importance of the role of tour guides, and
  • produce a pool of accredited and trained tour guides in the province.
This event shows the public and private sectors’ interest to help strengthen the tourism development in Capiz, Gov. Victor A. Tanco said in a message.

This training is a big help to make the participants aware of the strategies created by the provincial government, with the help of various stakeholders, to develop the tourism industry,” said Tanco.

Facilitating the training’s lectures, group dynamics and case exercises were various speakers representing the tourism industry, the academe and the government sectors.

Participants will also be exposed to workshops, field work assignments and hands-on trainings in hotels, tour offices and similar establishments during the final days of the training.

This initiative was realized through the joint efforts of PTCAO chief Alphonsus Tesoro and DOT-6 officer-in-charge Helen Catalbas. (Donnafer Dolor, Capiz Provincial Press Bureau/PN)
