ROXAS CITY, Capiz, April 18 (PIA) -- More than 900 students in Capiz will get employed this summer.

Information Officer William Dungog of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Capiz said 910 students will get jobs in this year’s Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) of their agency in partnership with the various schools and local government units in the province.

For the program this summer, Dungog revealed that DOLE has set aside P1,872,660, representing 40 percent share of government for the salaries of the said students here.

He said that the different local government units and private and government schools in Capiz have already committed to employ students under the SPES program.

Dungog said that the Roxas City government will hire 200 students, 100 students for Capiz provincial government, Ivisan will hire 96 students, and 40 students will be hired by the municipal government of Panitan.

On the other hand, Filamer Christian College committed to hire 255 students, 110 for Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, 35 for Hercor College, 14 for St.Anthony College, and 30 students each for Capiz State University-Roxas City and Pilar campuses.

Each partner agency and LGU pledged to hire said students for a duration ranging from 20 to 30 days for this summer job, Dungog said, adding that private schools will be paying a minimum of P 265 daily rate.

He stressed that CAPSU Roxas will be paying each of their hired student P250 per day, LGU Capiz and LGU Roxas City committed to pay P150 per day, CAPSU Pilar will pay a daily wage of P133, and the municipal governments of Panitan and Ivisan will be paying P130 per day.

Dungog explained that SPES aims to develop the intellectual capacities of children of poor families and harness their potentials for the country's well-being, particularly to help poor but deserving students pursue their education by providing income through encouraging their employment during summer and/or Christmas vacations.
