NEDA bats for dev’ts in WV

ROXAS City — The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) organized a provincial orientation on the Regional Development Plan (RDP) for 2011–2016 in the Capiz Provincial Capitol May 3.

Government agencies, local government units and private sectors participated in the event that aims to inform stakeholders about the strategies and the targeted projects that will be carried out in Western Visayas, especially in Capiz.

Ro-Ann Bacal, regional director of NEDA-6, presented and discussed 11 developmental strategies involved in the program.

They include:
  • Macroeconomy and Poverty Alleviation
  • Competitive Industry and Services Sector
  • Competitive and Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries
  • Tourism Development
  • Infrastructure Support
  • Human Resource Development
  • Research and Development
  • Bio-fuels and Renewable Energy Development
  • Good Governance and the Rule of Law
  • Peace and Security; and
  • Environment and Natural Resources.
According to Bacal, the RDP envisions Western Visayas as “home to an empowered and happy people who are protective of their rights culture and committed stewards of their heritage and natural resources.

It is a region thriving an innovation and excellence in a globally competitive and diversified agri-based, tourism-led economy,” Bacal added.

Gov. Victor Tanco said, “RDP will serve as a guide to accomplish [Capiz’s] dream of becoming a progressive province in Western Visayas.
