A veteran player has joined the retooled Petro Gazz team.
In a shocking move, veteran outside hitter Nicole Tiamzon was announced as the newest addition to the Angels ahead of the 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season.
"Let’s all welcome, one of the biggest hearts for the next generation aspiring volleyball players, founder and director of Spike and Serve Philippines," Petro Gazz posted in a tweet.
"Nicole Tiamzon, all #GazzedUp to inspire more people out there with her level of play!"
Prior to the move, Tiamzon had been a mainstay of Perlas Spikers and was one of the leaders in the team for the past four years. The former University of the Philippines standout steered Perlas to three bronze medals in the 2018 and 2019 Open Conference and 2018 Reinforced Conference.
The 26-year-old athlete was also named the 1st Best Outside Spiker during the 2019 PVL Reinforced Conference.
In Petro Gazz, Tiamzon will bolster a team that already features some stars like Grethcel Soltones, Myla Pablo, and Rem Palma.
Tiamzon is also the latest player to join a revamped Petro Gazz team who recently parted ways with nine core players which led them to sign some of their former players Cienne Cruz, Djanel Cheng, and Jonah Sabete.
