Capiz towns get P694.7M for emergency shelter assistance

ROXAS City - Municipalities of Capiz here yesterday received P695.7 million for the emergency shelter assistance (ESA) intended for typhoon Yolanda survivors.

If broken down, P477,600,000 was released for Roxas City; P173,610,000 for Panay; and P43,570,000 for Pontevedra.

The amount will go to 15,920 families with totally damaged houses in Roxas City; 5,637 families with totally damaged houses and 450 families with partially damaged houses in Panay; and 4,457 families with partially damaged houses in Pontevedra.

The amount was released by Protective Services Unit (PSU) head Rosario Sanagustin to the municipal treasurers as witnessed by Capiz Governor Victor Tanco, Panay mayor Dante Bermejo; and their respective municipal and city social welfare and development officers. It will be the LGUs which will be releasing the aid to the families.

The ESA is being released by the agency as part of the rehabilitation efforts to help Yolanda survivors rebuild their homes. The amount of P30,000 is intended for those with totally damaged houses while P10,000 will be released for those with partially damaged houses.

Earlier, regional director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre said, “With the releasing of the assistance, we hope that Ilonggos will be able to repair their houses as soon as possible.”

Macapobre also called on the beneficiaries to ensure that the amount goes to the repair and rebuilding of their houses.
