Capiz gets 68,657 sacks of rice

ROXAS City — Capiz received 68,657 sacks of rice, the last round of rice allocations for families displaced by super typhoon “Yolanda.”

This city had the biggest allocation with 11,517 sacks, said Sangguniang Panlalawigan secretary Zoe Herrera.

Cuartero received 2,754 sacks; Dao, 3,340; Dumalag, 3,170; Dumarao, 4,753; Ivisan, 2,625; Jamindan, 3,604; Maayon, 3,668; Mambusao, 3,855; Panay, 4,101; Panitan, 4,429; Pilar, 3,854; Pontevedra, 3,470; President Roxas, 2,776; Sapian, 2,693; Sigma, 3,124; and Tapaz, 5,220.

The sacks of rice were courtesy of the Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD).

They arrived 12 days after a consultative meeting among government and emergency officials on “Yolanda” rehabilitation efforts in the province on Nov. 12.

Present in the meeting were secretaries Corazon Soliman of Social Welfare, Manuel Roxas II of Interior and Local Government, and Voltaire Gazmin of Defense, and National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council executive director Alexander Pama.
