It defeated the Print Media team, 412-400, during the finals at the Capiz Convention Center Alley on Arnaldo Boulevard here July 2.
“It’s a great duel in the finals (even up to) the last players of both squads,” veteran journalist and host Ruben P. Gonzales said.
Each squad comprised three men and two women players. The contenders used duck pin balls.
Composing the entire CPPB–CD team were Allen Hervias, Froilan Unarce, Waltham Mendoza Jr., Cendel Aguilos, Monette Bernas, Ma. Theresa Fernando, Marviluz Calipayan, and Janice Arcan, and ace bowlers Joseph Dante Agnas and Abe Ballos.
CPPB–CD suffered its first defeat from IBC dyJJ, 427-403, in the opening day eliminations but later pounced on the other participating teams.
Its score against Capiz Association of Government Public information Officers was 466-forfeited; Roxas City Press Bureau (RCPB), 440-348; Radio Mindanao Network dyVR, 458-392; dyOW Bombo Radyo Roxas, 437-362; Star FM, 427-403; and Print Media, 449-408.
During the crossover semifinals, CPPB–CD demolished RCPB, while Print Media surprised the top team IBC dyJJ in another match.
“Unity and determination was the key to our success,” said CPPB chief Edward Basilonia.
Print Media settled for first runner-up, IBC dyJJ was second runner-up while RCPB was third runner-up.
“I am very happy, for this event made me enjoy my 60-year stint in public service as a journalist,” Gonzales said. “I would like to thank all sponsors who supported this event.”
