ROXAS City – The province of Capiz reaped three major awards in the Department of Tourism – Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (DOT-ATOP) during ATOP’s 14th Annual National Convention held last October 2-5 in Legazpi City, Albay.

Capiz was declared Grand Winner of DOT-ATOP Pearl Awards after gaining the Most Tourism Officers Club, Best Tourism Oriented LGU and Best Tourism Week Celebration recognitions.

Meanwhile, Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer (PTCAO) Alphonsus Tesoro was elected the new ATOP national president.

Governor Victor Tanco Sr. proudly presented the awards on Monday’s flag ceremony. Tanco lauded the private sector and government agencies efforts to promote Capiz’s tourism and be recognized as the country’s premiere tourist destination.

These awards and recognitions will serve as an inspiration for us to aim higher and work harder for our province to attain more acknowledgements,” said Tanco. (CPPB/Khatleen Mae Tupaz)
