“I want to start the implementation of flood control project in Capiz as my legacy in my last term,” the reelected governor said during the “Pag-Ulikid” TV program hosted by Mr. Alen Hervias of the Capiz Provincial Press Bureau July 1.
Tanco noted the adverse effects of the frequent flooding to crops and infrastructure in the province.
He said this will be solved by the proposed P20-billion flood control project dubbed “Panay Water Basin Flood Control”. The project, he said, was already presented to President Benigno Aquino III during his presidential visit before the May 13 elections.
The governor, who also serves as the Regional Development Council 6 chairperson, said the Panay River Basin Flood Control was based in a study conducted in 1985 and will be implemented by Japan International Cooperation Agency.
Meanwhile, Tanco said that in his last term, he will adapt a consultative type of governance where all sectors of the society will be consulted for strategic planning.
He added that he will revisit his five-point development agenda such as Vibrant Economy, Qualify and Relevant Education, Eco-Cultural Tourism Hub, Healthy Capiceños and Adequate Infrastructure supports system. (Joel E. Capundan/The Daily Guardian)
