ROXAS City — The Provincial Development Council (PDC) unanimously approved the Annual Investment Program for 2013 with a budget of P2,334,345,763.60
The budget is composed of P713,244,035 from the General Fund, P147,045,247.60 from the Development Fund, P8 million from the Special Education Fund, and P1,466,056,481 from the External Fund.
With the approved budget, Gov. Victor Tanco Sr., chairman of the PDC, plans to have some provincial roads in the 1st District converted to national roads.
“We will continue to redouble the efforts and intensify the achievements and accomplishments (of our administration),” Tanco said in his speech during the recent PDC meeting.
The governor is seeking reelection next year for his third and last term.
His administration has reaped a number of awards, particularly in the areas of good governance, health and tourism.
Foremost of these are the Seal of Good Housekeeping from the Department of Interior and Local Government and the province’s inclusion as one of the Top 20 tourist destinations in the country.
Under the Tanco administration, Capiz was also recognized as Garantisadong Pambata champion for Western Visayas for its outstanding programs for children.
The province also earned awards in tourism — Outstanding Culture-friendly Local Government Official and Regional Director’s Award for Tanco, and Best Provincial Tourism Officer for Alphonsus Tesoro, among others. (FELIPE CELINO/PN)
