ROXAS City — Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., the new director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), urged the police in Capiz to intensify their campaign against criminalities.

Cruz went to the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) in Camp Apil in Brgy. Lanot here on Monday.

During his visit, the CPPO director, Senior Supt. Domingo Cabillan, briefed him on the peace and order situation in the province.

After which, Cruz paid a courtesy call to Gov. Victor A. Tanco and other provincial officials.
Cruz replaced Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol Jr., who was promoted to a position in the Philippine National Police (PNP) national headquarters, two weeks ago.

He vowed to push through with the programs and projects that Querol has started.

Cruz believes that the people’s trust to their policemen is a key element in crime prevention.

Thus, he said, there is a need for the police to have closer ties with the people.

Cruz also ordered the 100-percent activation of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs).

During Querol’s stint, 80 percent of BPATs were activated to police the community and help curtail crimes.

The new PRO-6 chief also said one police officer must be deployed in every barangay in the region.

Cruz was a former PNP spokesperson and director of the PNP’s Police-Community Relations Group.

He was the second PNP spokesperson to become PRO-6 director. Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr., Querol’s predecessor, was also a former PNP spokesperson. (Felipe Celino/PN)
