Civil Service Exam 2022 Updates
– The Civil Service Exam, formally known as the Career Service Exam- Pencil and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) is conducted by the Civil Service Commission twice a year. The purpose of the exam is to establish a Register of Eligibles (RoE) from which certification and appointment to first and second level positions in the government service. There are two types of Civil Service Exam, the CSE-Professional, and Sub-professional levels. The former will grant you the 2nd-Level Eligibility which qualifies you for a second-level position while the latter qualifies you for clerical and custodial service positions in the government.

Civil Service Exam Schedule for 2022

The Civil Service Commission will conduct CSE-PPT (Professional and Sub-Professional Levels) on March 13, 2022 for those who are already working in different government agencies. Applicants may submit their applications from January 12, 2022 to January 27, 2022. Please be advised that applications shall be on a FIRST-COME FIRST-SERVED basis and shall be closed any time before the deadline if the CSC Regional/Field Office has already reached the target number of applicants.

As per Civil Service Commission, Regional Office VIII, the Career Service Exam- Pencil and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) for the general public will be on June 19, 2022. If the current COVID-19 situation improves, the CSC may start accepting exam applications around April 2022.

The Philippine Civil Service Commission has announced the details for the August 7, 2022 exam.

CSE-PPT Application Qualifications

The civil service examination in the Philippines is administered by the Civil Service Commission for those who are working or planning to work as non-elected public servants. Passing the examination means getting the eligibility to have the chances of promotion, regularization or getting a position in the government. Just like any other examination conducted by the government, there are some requirements and qualifications to fulfill to qualify for the examination. If you want to know if you are qualified, check the details below:

  • You must be a Filipino citizen, at least 18 years of age at the time of filing of the application.
  • You must be of good moral character, no criminal record or has not been convicted on an offense involving moral turpitude.
  • Must not have been dishonorably discharged from military, police, fire or jail service or even dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government.
  • Must not have taken the same level of career service examination either through PPT or CSC Computerized Examination (CSC COMEX) within three (3) months from the last examination taken.

You can apply regardless of your educational attainment as long as you meet the qualifications above.

Exemptions

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 1080, The Commission grants the second-level civil service eligibility to Bar and PRC Board Passers even without taking the examination. Also, the following individuals may opt not to take the corresponding examination anymore:

  • Passers of Career Service Examination for Foreign Service Officer as the resulting Career Foreign Service Officer Eligibility is comparable to the Career Service Professional Eligibility;
  • Grantees of the following eligibilities under special laws and CSC issuances, which are comparable to the Career Service Professional Eligibility:
  • Honor Graduate Eligibility under P.D. 907
  • Scientific and Technological Specialist Eligibility under P.D. 997
  • Sanggunian Member Eligibility (2nd Level) under RA No. 10156
  • Foreign School Honor Graduate Eligibility under CSC Resolution No. 1302714
  • Veteran Preference Rating Eligibility (Professional) under EO No. 132, s. 1948 and EO No. 790, s. 1982
  • Grantees of the following eligibility under special laws and CSC issuances, which are comparable to the Career Service Sub Professional Eligibility:
  • Barangay Official Eligibility under RA No. 7160
  • Barangay Health Worker Eligibility under RA No. 7883
  • Sanggunian Member Eligibility (1st Level) under RA No. 10156
  • Veteran Preference Rating Eligibility (SubProfessional) under EO No. 132, s. 1948 and EO No. 790, s. 1982

Application Requirements

Below are the specific documentary requirements you must submit when filing your exam application:

  1. A duly-accomplished application form (CS FORM No. 100 Revised September 2016). Leave the signature and right thumb mark spaces blank as these will be accomplished in the presence of a CSC representative/ processor during the filing of the application.
  2. Four (4) pcs. Philippine Passport size pictures with a dimension of 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm or 1.78 x 1.38 inches. Submit pictures that are taken within the last 3 months prior to the filing of the application. The picture must be colored in a white background and printed in good quality photo paper. Additionally, it must be in the bare face with no eyeglasses, colored contact lens, or any accessories that may cover the facial features (facial features not computer enhanced).   3. Present a valid identification card and submit a photocopy of it. Please refer to our guide: CSE List of Accepted ID.
  4. If your only available ID does not contain your birth date, submit a copy of your NSO or PSA Birth Certificate.
  5. Prepare a non-refundable examination fee of Php 500.00
  6. If you have dual citizenship under RA 9225, submit a copy of a Certificate of Retention/ Re-acquisition of Philippine Citizenship issued by the Bureau of Immigration.

Filing of Application

You must personally file the Civil Service Exam application at the CSC Regional Office (CSC RO), or at any of the CSC RO’s Field Offices where you intend to take the examination. Check the Civil Service Commission Office Directory to find the CSC Office near your area.

Only applications with a COMPLETE set of documentary requirements mentioned above must be submitted to the CSC Regional/Field Office. Please be reminded that proper attire should be worn during the filing of the application. SLEEVELESS SHIRT/BLOUSE, SHORTS/SHORT PANTS, and SLIPPERS are NOT allowed.

Submit the accomplished application form without affixing signature and thumbprint. After reviewing and evaluating your application form, the CSC officer will require you to affix your signature and thumbprint. He/she will verify your examination records through their E-Retaker/ DIBAR System to check if you are really qualified to take the exam. If qualified, he/she will advise you to pay the examination fee to the cashier. Upon examination fee, the CSC personnel will issue an official receipt and examination slip.
