ROXAS City – Public-private partnership remains strong in Capiz.

The recently launched Toll Packaging Center in the province is a clear manifestation of how the partnership works, said Provincial Micro, Small and Medium Development Council chairperson Danilo So Chan.

He said the all-out support of the provincial government of Capiz and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have been very instrumental to the growing micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) here.

The Toll Packaging Center, an innovative solution to business needs, was launched Dec. 7 as one of the highlights during the 2015 Sinadya sa Halaran festival here.

So Chan said the center is a “dream come true” and a milestone project of the government for small entrepreneurs here.

Provincial Director Ermelinda Pollentes pointed out that they have been working on the project since 20
12.

She said the project is a tool to ensure that MSMEs here are ready not only for domestic but also for international competition.

The toll package center is so far the biggest in terms of investment and equipment, said Pollentes.

According to her, the provincial government of Capiz has poured in P1.6 million for the building and other structural requirements while the DTI has spent P1 million as a shared service facility, that is, for the equipment.

With a competent pool of experts to tap, the Center provides external consultancy services and assistance in the areas of product development, product standardization, licensing, barcoding, marketing, business matching, institutional strengthening, financing, business plan preparation and coaching for start-up entrepreneurs,” she said.

For Capiz Governor Victor A. Tanco, the center is a symbol of unity that everybody must be proud of as a Capiceño.

He said that with the center now helping the business sector, “we are assured that our products will be competitive and sellable.”

Tanco likewise lauded the partnership of the private sector to the government, particularly the provincial government, in development efforts. (PIA Capiz/PN)
