ROXAS CITY – The provincial government of Capiz was awarded the Seal of Good Housekeeping marker by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for advancing the primacy of good governance.

The award demonstrates excellence in public governance measured through the absence of an adverse COA finding on provincial financial transactions, transparency and accountability, following observance of the full disclosure policy.

We are honored that everybody’s involvement, from the lowest janitor to the high ranking provincial officials, is recognized by being awarded the Seal of Good Housekeeping, a recognition that every LGU strives to receive as the same is the best,” Governor Victor A. Tanco said. “As a family, it is also rewarding that the work we are doing benefits our community.”

Tanco personally received the Seal of Good Housekeeping marker from DILG Regional Director Evelyn Trompeta, September 11, in the presence of Vice Governor Esteban Evan Contreras II, Provincial Administrator and Legal Counsel Atty. Jose Villanueva, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and department heads of the provincial government.

The governor said that the Seal of Good Housekeeping is one of the best legacy programs to the LGUs by the late Sec. Jesse Robredo.

Tanco vowed to sustain and maintain the kind of leadership knowing that the next round of competition is more challenging.

“Because of this award, the more we become committed to value the fundamentals of good governance essential in local public administration and development that made the province win the award,” Tanco said, adding that with Sec. Mar Roxas now heading the department “many LGUs are also expecting so much from us.”

The provincial government will receive P7-million Performance Challenge Fund as part of the award, Trompeta said.

Trompeta likewise turned-over to Pontevedra town mayor Esteban Jose Contreras the P1-million Performance Challenge Fund for winning the same seal. - Capizdateline.com/Rex A. Talabucon
