The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers are triumphant in their Premier Volleyball League (PVL) debut after downing the Black Mamba Army Lady Troopers in four sets, 25-15, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22, in the 2022 Open Conference opening match on Wednesday at the Paco Arena.
Kim Kianna Dy led all scorers with 20 points, 15 of which were stinging attacks. Ara Galang added 11 points and Majoy Baron chipped in 10 points in their maiden victory in the league.
The Cargo Movers showed their dominating offensive set plays and tight defense early in the game to clinch easy wins in the first two sets.
Late in the third set, Far Eastern University product Jeanette Villareal and Army veteran Honey Royse Tubino scored crucial attacks down the line to force a fourth set.
The Lady Troopers kept the distance close against the Cargo Movers, with Tubino and former F2 stalwart Michelle Morente answering their foes' points.
Some offensive gems and defensive stops by the formidable trio of Dy, Galang, and Baron in the homestretch of the fourth set clinched the victory.
"We're very excited to play and it's our first time with PVL, so we're ready to face our opponents," Dy said during the post-match interview.
Tubino topscored for Army with 18 points while Morente added nine markers.
Both squads are part of Pool A along with defending champions Chery Tiggo Crossovers, Choco Mucho Flying Titans, and Cignal HD Spikers.
