The Philippine National Volleyball Federation’s promise to bring the FIVB Volleyball Nations League has come to reality.
The FIVB has announced that the Philippines will host the week two of both the men’s and women’s VNL competitions.
From June 14-19, 2022, Quezon City will host the second week of the women’s competition.
Pooled in the leg are defending champion USA.
Joining the Americans are Belgium, China, Poland, Japan, Thailand, Russia, and Canada.
The SMART Araneta Coliseum will most likely host the six-day stop.
Two days later, week two of the men’s competition will be hosted in Pasay City.
Last season’s third-placer France headlines the cast.
Also in the pool are Japan, Argentina, Italy, Russia, Germany, Slovenia, and the Netherlands.
It seems like the SM Mall of Asia Arena will host the leg set from June 21-26.
The Quezon City leg will also coincide with the Brazil-hosted tournament that has the hosts, Italy, Turkey, Germany, Dominican Republic, Serbia, Netherlands, and Korea.
For the second week of the men’s tournament, Sofi hosts the other side of the bracket with Bulgaria, Serbia, Brazil, Canada, Poland, Iran, USA, and Australia playing in it.
VNL Tournament Format
The VNL is an international volleyball competition wherein the top 16 volleyball nations compete in a round robin tournament across six cities in the world.
For the 2020 season, the first leg for the women’s will be played in Bossier City, USA and Ankara, Turkey while the final leg will be hosted by Calgary, Canada and Ufa, Russia.
Brazil and Ottawa, Canada hosts week one for the men’s while the third week will be played in Osaka, Japan and Kemerovo, Russia.
The top four teams in each division will advance to the final round.
The hosts of the final round have yet to be announced.
