ROXAS City — Sinadya sa Halaran civic and cultural activities, postponed due to typhoon “Ruby,” will push through starting today.
The city government has released its schedule of festival activities from Dec. 10 to 14.
Today, the Artista sa Sinadya sa Halaran will be at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center, while the Dali Diri sa Roxas City Photo Exhibit will be launched at the city hall lobby and will run through the 12th.
On Dec. 12, the Saot Capisnon will be held in front of the Capiz Provincial Capitol at 6 p.m., while Daigon will be at the Roxas City Bandstand at 7 p.m., to be followed by a fireworks display at the Roxas City Bridge.
A “run for the environment,” from the city public plaza to Barangay Baybay, will kick off the events on Dec. 13. The Parade of Festivals will be at 8 a.m. At 1 p.m. will be a drum and lyre competition at the city public plaza and the Dogstival at Balay Capisnon.
Pasikat Abilidad, a talent contest, will be at 6 p.m. at the Roxas City Bandstand on Dec. 14. It will be followed by D’cenio 2014 at 8 p.m.
A food festival will be held from 7 p.m. to 12 midnight on Dec. 12 to 14 at the city public plaza.
CAPITOL EVENTS
Provincial government-sponsored activities, on the other hand, will be held from Dec. 12 to 14, according to Gov. Victor Tanco Sr.
Saot Capiznon will be in the evening of Dec. 12; Parade of Festivals, Dec. 13; and Halad Capiznon, all through the weekend, Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer Alphonsus Tesoro confirmed.
Saot Capiznon will feature Capiz folk dances. Halad Capiznon, on the other hand, allows individuals or groups to hold outreach activities; businesses, for instance, may offer products/services for free or at a discount.
The Parade of Festivals will showcase the festivities in this capital city and the towns of Tapaz, Dumarao, Cuartero, Dao, Sigma, Mambusao, Sapian, Ivisan, Panitan, Panay, Pontevedra, Maayon, President Roxas, and Pilar.
Sinadya sa Halaran was originally scheduled on Dec. 5 to 8 but civic (government-sponsored) activities were postponed due to “Ruby.” Religious activities, spearheaded by the Diocese of Capiz, however, pushed through.(PN/RALPH JOHN MIJARES)
