School-on-Air produces 617 graduates in Capiz

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Aug. 15 (PIA6) – Six hundred – seventeen Capiceños have successfully completed and graduated from the school-on-air (SOA) program on Cassava Production and Utilization last Aug. 12 at CAP Auditorium here.
Provincial Agriculturist Sylvia dela Cruz said that a lot has enrolled on the program as cassava along with rice and corn is a major crop of the province.
“This graduation ceremony has the most number of graduates based on Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) records on a number of SOA classes already conducted through the collaboration of the Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Training Institute and OPA," she said.
The graduates listened to radio station RMN DyVR to learn the strategies and techniques on cassava production as well as preparation and utilization of raw cassava to produce finished products.
“I’m very happy for you all [Capiznon enrollees] for taking part in this program and most specially learning cassava production and utilization techniques in order to help in your livelihood,” Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco said in his message during the program.
Some of the graduates received recognition for their active participation and understanding from the weekly cassava – related on-air discussion.
The graduation rites was also attended by Capiz Vice Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Eduardo Magallanes, SOA Project Officer Deodeth Grace Baticbatic, ATI – Central Office Information Services Division OIC Antonieta Arceo and ATI – RTC 6 OIC-Center director Eden Bautista.
The graduates were from the municipalities of Jamindan -134, Dumarao-105, Sigma – 56, Mambusao – 55, Dumalag-52, Pres. Roxas-49, Tapaz-37, Pontevedra-36, Ivisan-29, Sapian-28, Panitan-25 and Pilar-11. (JSC/AAL-PIA6 Capiz/CPPB with reports from Rovily Jalandoni and Aina Shane Martinez of FCU)
