ROXAS City — Thirty-three street vendors in Capiz participated in a street food culinary seminar-workshop at the Nesta’s Hilltop hotel and restaurant here.

The event, staged on May 6–7, was led by the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6.

It aimed to “educate street vendors about basic hygiene and kitchen safety and sanitation to promote cleanliness and present well the food they are selling,” said the PTCAO chief Alphonsus Tesoro.

It also sought to help the vendors broaden their knowledge about their livelihood and promote Capiz’s tourism through street food.

Guest speakers during the event were DOT regional director Helen Catalbas, Leo Biclar of the Provincial Health Office and chef Ram Villaluna.

The event was supported by the provincial government under Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. (With a report from Michael R. Cuñada, Capiz Provincial Press Bureau/PN)
