ROXAS City — Several regional and national events have been calendared in the province until December this year, a tourism official said.

In fact, a number of similar events have been conducted in Capiz since January, Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) head Alphonsus Tesoro said.

Among the recent ones were the national convention of Operating Room Nurses Association of the Philippines, the world mission conference of the Bible Baptist Church, the regional consultation workshop and updates for all Health Education and Promotion Officers, the cultural tour of the Philippine Information Agency’s regional staff, the mini-convention of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and the indigenous people’s youth convention.

Tesoro attributed this to the various tourism initiatives of this city and province.

Our accommodation establishments are now at par with other destinations,” as proven by the bookings and schedules of meetings, conferences and exhibits, the PTCAO head said.

PTCAO has been pushing to make Capiz a premier venue for meetings, incentive travels, conventions and exhibitions, apart from being an agri-tourism destination.

Tourism packages promoting the province as an agri-tourism site will be officially available in the last quarter of the year.

These developments will transform into improved local economic activities,” Tesoro said.

He also said the provincial government, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, was conducting orientation for tourism frontliners, like waiters and waitresses and the various transport group workers. (PIA–Capiz/PN)
