ROXAS City - The Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) will launch three agri-tourism packages in September to boost the tourism industry of the Province of Capiz.
PTCAO head Alphonsus Tesoro said the tour packages were developed in a seminar conducted by the Department of Tourism (DOT) last summer here, in line with the packaging of Capiz as the country’s agri-tourism destination. “We will conduct a familiarization tour on these tour packages in August to validate these sites,” he stressed, without elaborating the details of each trip.
PTCAO and DOT are also conducting a continuing orientation among tourism frontliners like waiters and waitresses and the various transport group workers in preparation for the new tour packages.
The idea to develop the province as an agri-tourism site was an offshoot of President Benigno Aquino’s engagement with Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco and other local officials early this year.
Aquino also urged local government officials and the private sector to work with the national government in developing Capiz’s tourism potentials to lure tourists from Boracay to visit the province as well.
The province is known as “Seafood Capital of the Philippines" because of its daily production of tons of fresh fish and sea foods as well as high quality dried fish supplied to various cities and provinces in the country. (Alex A. Lumaque/PIA)
