ROXAS City — In line with its advocacy to promote wellness in Capiz, the Philippine-American Medical Society from Pennsylvania, United States of America, through the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH), will hold a free medical and surgical mission, Jan. 28 to Feb. 2.
RMPH will be the venue of the mission and will provide additional manpower support such as doctors and nurses.
The medical mission team from US will be led by Dr. Frederick Acevedo, a Capiznon.
According to Dr. Ma. Cellini Bauson, acting RMPH chief, the mission is open to all the Capiznon with goiter, ovarian cyst, myoma, hernia and cleft palate.
The said mission will also help patients with stomach and intestinal conditions including peptic ulcer disease, cancer of rectum and hemorrhoid; gallstones; genito-urinary conditions; breast and skin and soft tissue tumors; and those needing orthopedic surgery.
A recent communication from the US med team stated the cancellation of cataract surgery due to the unavailability of lens.
RMPH has begun a series of pre-screening laboratory examinations for patients which started last Jan. 2 in the municipality of Ivisan and in the city of Roxas.
As of press time, RMPH had already screened patients from the municipalities of Panay, Sigma, Pontevedra, Dumalag, Sapian, Maayon and Mambusao.
Dumarao is scheduled on Jan. 11; Dao, Jan. 12; Panitan, Jan. 14; Pilar, Jan. 15; Pres. Roxas, Jan. 16; Jamindan, Jan. 17; Tapaz, Jan. 18; and Cuartero, Jan. 19. (CPPB-FCU / Karl Patrick Bayhon, Angiela Baria)
