ROXAS CITY, Capiz, April 26 (PIA6) -- Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo said that Roxas City could be the country’s next growth area just like Palawan and Cagayan de Oro.
During his recent visit to Capiz, Domingo claimed that with the abundant marine resources plus the dynamism of its people and local leaders, the potential for growth of Roxas City is great.
He likewise urged the province to work for inclusive growth in order to have a broader section of society enjoy the benefits of economic development.
Domingo stressed that the province and city should give focus on the equitable allocation of resources that will redound to the availability of consumer goods, increased people’s success, employment, and improved standard of living of Capiceños.
He also expressed optimism for the overall continued growth of the country as more investments are coming in particularly from Japan even as the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is also steadily posting growth.
On the other hand, the Secretary exhorted local businessmen to go for export as the same is the key to long-term business sustainability.
He also challenged the Small and Medium Enterprises not to limit themselves to serving only the Filipino community abroad when they have the opportunity to tap the huge global market.
Domingo was in Capiz, April 14 and 15 for the 111th Charter Anniversary of Provincial Government of Capiz dubbed as CAPIZtahan 2012, specifically to grace the blessing and inauguration of the Capiz Government and Business Center, People’s Park, and Talon Adventure and Wildlife Park, and the ground-breaking of the Robinson’s Place – Roxas and Roxas City Transport Terminal at Pueblo de Panay.
