ROXAS CITY – More Capiceños are expected to be added to the provincial government- sponsored Philhealth members this year.
PhilHealth-Capiz records show that the provincial government has enlisted 36,565 families to the PhilHealth Sponsored Program (SP) as of December 31, 2011.
Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. said at least 20 percent will be added into the province’s SP enrollees in line with his Health Capiceños development agenda.
Tanco disclosed this during the memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing by the provincial and municipal governments and PhilHealth for a two-year lock-in period of PhilHealth members classified into the SP membership.
Local government units (LGU’s) who decided to bring in new or additional enrollees into the SP and committed to provide them with coverage until December 31, 2013 will be given a discounted two-year premium of 2,400.
“The new enrollees should be committed into the SP on or before June 30 this year for the LGU to enjoy this premium rate,” PhilHealth noted.
Joe Frederick Diaz, chief social insurance officer of PhilHealth-Capiz, said there are 122,997 total registered members in the province under the program sponsored by the provincial government, various municipalities, a congressional office and national government through the Department of Health.
The LGUs that opted to renew their sponsorship for two years and undertake the renewal through a MOA on or before June 30 this year will be entitled to an additional three-month extension of validity date up to June 30, 2012.
Under this arrangement, the LGU will enjoy an effective premium rate for a two-year enrolment of only P 1,800 per enrolled family. (ALEX LUMAQUE/PIA-Capiz)
