Visual arts exhibit opens in Capiz

ROXAS CITY – A visual arts exhibit dubbed “Pinta Capiz” recently opened at the second floor of Gaisano Mall in Arnaldo Boulevard here.

The exhibit is one of the major activities of the Provincial Arts Month which started in February 7 and will last until February 26.

The annual celebration of the Provincial Arts Month is important in getting the people, especially the youth, interested in culture and the arts of Capizeños, according to Gov. Victor A. Tanco who led the official opening of the exhibit.

This year’s theme, “Ani ng Sining” (Harvest in the Arts), is very for homegrown artists of to showcase their individual talent, said Alphonsus Tesoro, the provincial tourism officer.

Capiz artists, whose oil pastel and acrylic paintings were on display, include Antonio S. Valdez Jr., Roberta Miranda-Vallar, Ricardo C. Lauz, Ronnie Albaladejo and John S. Heredia.

Governor Victor A. Tanco, Vice Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras II and other artists in the province graced the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, Miguel Sison, national president of the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP), turned over equipment like interactive projector, liquid crystal display television, digital video disc player, steel cabinet, projector screen, voice recorder, and a steel cabinet to the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO).
