ROXAS City – Residents here will enjoy more the 116th Philippine Independence Day celebration today, June 12, with the 1st Street Food Festival at the provincial capitol grounds.

The festival, which is open on the evening, is an offshoot of a two-day street food culinary workshop conducted by the Department of Tourism last May,” said Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer Alphonsus Tesoro.

The 15 participants are encouraged to creatively cook and sell Capiznon street food for the festival which will be spiced up by a live band entertainment.

The culinary workshop aimed to impart to the participants the importance of hygiene, kitchen safety and sanitation, plating and presentation, which are important elements in providing quality street foods and quality service to the customers.

Tesoro noted that the provincial government will replicate the workshop within a year.

The initiative is part of PTCAO’s “Experience Capiz” campaign that also introduces food as a tourism come-on aside from the various cultural, historical, natural and religious attractions in the province. (Alex A. Lumaque/PIA Capiz)
