ROXAS City — Eighty households in Capiz have received a P10,000 check each under the Agrikultura: Kaagapay ng Bayang Pinoy (AKBay) program at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA).

AKBay program is implemented by the national government through the National Agriculture and Fishery Council (NAFC).

It is funded under the Japan Grant Assistance for Food Security Project for underprivileged farmers.

It will help the beneficiaries start livelihood projects by providing them a fund payable in three years without interest.
The provincial government, through the OPA, worked with NAFC in identifying and verifying the beneficiaries, who were less privileged Capiceño farmers and fisherfolk.

The loan beneficiaries came from the municipalities of Cuartero (58), Ivisan (18), Dao (three) and Dumalag (one).

The checks were distributed by Gov. Victor Tanco Sr., AKBay program provincial coordinator Joey Dela Cruz, Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Council officer Mabini Besiño, and Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council officer Ricardo Provido.

Make use of the loan rightfully, according to the contracts you’ve signed with OPA and NAFC,” Tanco urged the recipients.

He also told the beneficiaries that others can also benefit from the program when they pay on time. (With a report from Monette Bernas, Capiz Provincial Press Bureau/PN)
