Support own products, Capiceños told

Tourism Week 2013
ROXAS City – The provincial government of Capiz is urging the locals here to support its own products and tourism services by participating in the Tourism Week celebration from September 23 to 29 at Capiz gym.

In an interview, PTCAO head Alphonsus Tesoro urged Capiceños to support its own products.

Let’s patronize our very own products of Capiz and the same time to be aware of the various services offered here,” Tesoro said.

A two-day national convention and three-day regional tourism expo will highlight the celebration, he said.

The Provincial Government of Capiz thru the Provincial Tourism Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT)-6 organized the national tourism convention dubbed “Tagbuanay 2013” on September 25 to 26.

Now on its second year, Tagbuanay will be a venue of interactive dialogue, skills sharing and various learning opportunities through lectures, community exposure, familiarization tour, trade exhibition and others among educators and students of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Resource speakers coming from Manila and other big cities will discuss various tourism-related topics and tips.

Meanwhile, this year’s Regional Tourism Expo aims to highlight the entrepreneurial tourism and provide venue for tourism stakeholders in Western Visayas to meet together and build a strong business linkages and partnership.

The expo opens on September 26 and ends on September 28.

Other activities in the weeklong celebration are the DOT Accreditation Caravan, September 23 – 26 at the Capitol; “Panday sang Banwa: Culture and Governance Seminar Workshop” on September 26 – 28 at Nestas Hilltop Hotel here; Langoy Capiz; and cultural performances, skills competitions and exhibitions.

This year’s event adapts the World Tourism Day theme “Tourism and Water - Protecting our Common future.” (CPPB\Donnafer A. Dolor)
