3-Day CAPIZtahan 2012
Several major projects that will have strong impacts on the lives of the present and future Capizeños will be inaugurated during the three-day CAPIZtahan on April 13, 14 and 15, 2012.

Set to be inaugurated on April 13 (9:30 a.m) is the Roxas City Museum on Hughes St. The museum’s management and operation have been transferred to the ONE Capiz Foundation, Inc.

Melanie Arancillo, executive director of ONE Capiz, promised to make the city museum “one of its kind” when it is fully completed, hopefully next year. Its renovation is now in full swing.

Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, who represented Mayor Angel Alan Celino to the recent CAPIZtahan press conference, said the present trend is to let a foundation handle the museum to further maximize its operations.

This would be followed by the inauguration of the almost P200-million Capiz Government and Business Center on San Roque Extension corner Fuentes Drive, the P1.6–million Provincial Crime Laboratory in Barangay 11 and the P7.3-million Department of Interior and Local Government building near the Capiz provincial park. The Government and Business Center features modern architectural technologies and is equipped with an elevator.

The crime laboratory and the DILG building are said to be the first of their kind in Panay Island.

The crime lab and the DILG edifice are “pet projects” of Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco and are deemed unparalleled in the history of Capiz.

In the afternoon of the same day (3 p.m.), the long-overdue Circumferential Road, which was conceptualized by the late Capiz first district Congressman Gerardo “Dinggoy” Roxas, Jr. and implemented by now Capiz first district Congressman Antonio del Rosario, will have its Ground Breaking in Barangay Culasi. An initial amount of P300-million out of the whole budget of some P700-million allotted for the project, has been released. The road connects Culasi to the Barangays of Baybay, Libas, Dayao, Lawaan and Balijuagan. It aims to ease traffic in the city’s major streets.

The second day of the celebration, April 14, will feature the inauguration of People’s Park in Barangay Baybay, wich will further be developed by the Roxas family in partnership with the ONE Capiz and the Roxas City government. A fountain is being constructed on the site in time for the April 13-15 CAPIZtahan activities. This would be followed by the Ground Breaking of school buildings at the President Manuel Roxas Memorial School (PMRMS) in Barangay Tanque. The PMRMS is a recipient of P64-million from the unspent Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of former senator and now Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Mar Roxas ll.

On the third and last day of the celebration, April 15, there will be inauguration/blessing of the Health Centrum Inc, a hospital in Barangay Banica, and the Rural Health Unit in Sigma, Capiz. The P300-million Health Centrum is being constructed under the auspices of the Balgos family led by Dr. Abundio Balgos. It is managed by the Health Centrum, Inc., which envisions a dynamic public –private development process that will bring in patients, students, retirees and medical tourists to Western Visayas.
